The New Sky Bridge - WTF?

Was cruising south down Norodom today towards the new sky bridge (fly over) wanting to turn left and cross the Monivong Bridge only to find that the new scheme they've put in means it's now impossible to turn left.
You now have two choices, go over the sky bridge towards Takmao or go West on Monivong. This has to be one of the biggest engineering fuck-ups I've ever seen. So now instead of fixing the traffic problem at that intersection (I assume this was the objective of the sky bridge) it's just moved the problem one hundred meters up to where Monivong and 271 meet, as all the cars and bikes wanting to go across the Monivong bridge are all blocking the road doing u-turns at the new traffic lights. No doubt at peak times that chaos will back up as far as the sky bridge and also block the bridge.

I use this road every day and i see their logic.
Highway one has priority.
The huge widening project means that highway one has to flow.
They built the kerbing to stop the silly khmers who didnt want to use the flyover coming straight through from takamao and disrupting the flow of highway one.
Just change your habits and use monivong to go straight on to highway one.
It is a vast improvement on what was there before.
Stop your whinging.
I agree with Mark on this one.
If you think Khmer drivers going from BKK area are going to divert to Monivong and drive double the distance to get to the fly over rather than just go over the fly-over and do a u-turn or turn right and do a u-turn at the 271 lights or if you drive a car worth over $50k just go in completely the wrong lane and turn onto the Moniving bridge (as I've now witnessed multiple times) then I think you're dreaming.
My bet is the first time one of these stunts causes a jam that backs up onto Norodom and blocks a convoy of one of the big guys coming from Takmao then the current system will be scrapped.
