A more than exceptional event is taking place at Pansodan Scene from 13 – 19 September 2014. Initiated by a community-based, doctor-directed grass-root organization, supporting healthcare for disadvantaged in the outskirts of Yangon, the exhibition will display during one week close to a hundred Pathein parasols, called pathein hti. The particularity of these parasols is that they are all hand-painted by Myanmar artists; more than thirty artists have collaborated to the project. The aim of the Parasol Project is to raise money to help support the charges of the low cost clinics offering year-round access to basic health care needs mainly in Yangon. Along the one week exhibition, every parasol will be put to a silent auction: whoever wants to support the project can bid on each parasol with a starting price of 200 USD. The silent auction starts with the opening of the exhibition on Saturday September 13, 2014 from 11 a.m. and ends on Friday 19 September 2014 at 8:30 p.m. (announcement of the auction results at 9 p.m.) The closing event on Friday 19th will be from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Pansodan Scene, and will host a list of musical perforepmances.
