When the black-clad Khmer Rouge overran Phnom Penh on April 17, 1975, many exhausted residents welcomed them, hoping it meant the end of Cambodia's civil war. But within hours, Pol Pot launched his “Year Zero” campaign, emptying towns and cities and forcing city-dwellers to become slave laborers in the countryside. French photographer ROLAND NEVEU was one of the few foreigners who stayed behind when most of the press corps left the country as part of US evacuation operation Eagle Pull. The few 35-mm films which he shot that day are some of the only remaining images of that time. Meta House exhibits them to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the FALL OF PHNOM PENH. The artist will be present and hold a talk at 8PM on our rooftop.
