In May 2014 a new cyber law draft leaked to the Cambodian media, which sparked international debate and concerns that the bastion for free expression through social media outlets was under threat. As media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube had been widely used by the opposition party during and after the 2013 election period, many feared that new laws are being implemented to crack down on critical voices. Since then, the cyber law has been much discussed, however its current status is unclear. Join us at Meta House as we invite representatives from the technological community, media, bloggers, activists and lawmakers to discuss what the future of the internet in Cambodia might entail.
