6PM: PHOTO EXHIBITION OPENING – “Seametrey Children’s Village” is a fully integrated bilingual nursery and primary Montessori school, which is lo-cated by the beautiful lakeside of Tonle Bati, approx. 40 kilometer outside of Phnom Penh. The aim of the school is to make quality education accessible to all Khmer children. German documentarian Maxie Borchert presents her pho-to exhibition and a documentary, that she has co-directed together with Bilal Mohammed. RISING TOGETHER FROM ASHES (2016, 60 min) follows the story of NGO founder and school director Muoy You, widow of Cambodian painter You Khin. After her studies in France in 1975 she and her husband were locked out of their home country. Muoy You returned to Cambodia 31 years later to fulfill her biggest dream. The documentary screens at 7PM. Filmmaker and protagonist will hold a Q&A after screening.
