I really wish "agents" like Van Chanthorn, Sakhom, chailin888, would just post a web site and not spam the forum with over priced apartments. Makes it hard to find the real expat posts. Besides we live in Cambodia not SF or Seattle or NYC so some of those prices are stupid high. I like the guy that said $350 for your $900 apt. :=)

Now searching for that post I saw before the spam fest occurred.

Good Point, I think we will limit the agent to a certain amount of post per day / week. That being said the agents are welcome to add to the directory, however encouraging them just to post their website is dangerous as they are likely to post that several ties a day

They seem only targeting the high end budgets and being lazy and not bothering about the middle of the road or the low end, which is fine as far as business smarts go. However as its is a free service I do think we will will limit the amount they can add each day.

UNLESS we am mistaken and user DO want these real estate postings enmasse

it makes us wonder how many of these proprieties are actually available. All they seem to be doing is posting to out do each other. Pointless and counter productive marketing.

The reason we gave the agents their own forums was due to the many postings. The issue we have now is that the New postings bar on the RHS seems to show nothing but over priced accommodation

tatt2ed, I respectfully disagree. Agents posting apartments is sort of the point of this forum -- there'd be little reason to visit here without the listings. Some of the apartments are well out of my price range, too, but I simply pass them over. Not sure why we'd want to put restrictions on what is supposed to be a public resource for all expats (including, alas, those on housing packages).

LOL. I feel the fool, I clicked on the wrong area and thought I had entered agent hell in "real-estate-cambodia-general" so my bad.

In the future I will double check my area before posting a complaint. Sorry for the misunderstanding and I will leave it up to the admins and stay out of agents free for all spam forum.

Why not have agents prefix subjects lines with AGENT: or private offers prefixed with PRIVATE:
Edit: oh, this forum is ALL agents, ok then.

I don't know if it happens here, but on bongthom, khmer24 and so on, what's REALLY annoying is to see the same offers repeated daily for weeks or months at a time, especially as these offers are simply retail prices for stuff in their shops, rather than one-off items for sale.

I can just go around the shops if I want to check retail prices and availability.

It makes it really hard to find genuine one-off offers, and on top of that it's annoying to see them cling to the same inflated prices day in day out.

We have now separated the real estate on the forums.
* Agents
* General

We have also limited the agent to 4 post a day (24hrs)

As well we hope you find the new "quick tabs" a better way to navigate.

Cheers

I agree - they load up and re-load seemingly endless repetitive lsitings, nearly never offering photos. Every time I put one listing on here it gets burried within 24 hours by the actions of the other Agents.

ADMI I am not telling you what to do so please forgive if perceived this way but these agents needn't to put 4 new listings on here daily, it should be more liek 4 per week. This free service is very welcomed so this is my free advice.

thanks for the feed back. we are looking at some other options. One is some additional quick tabs. Again splitting agents and general forums. should be a week or so way from getting it done.

We do (sort of, kind of) watch the real estate agents forums for multiple postings and do from time to time delete ones that are re-posted.

FYI Folks - to attempt to clean up the forums for both readers and the agents.

From June 1st 2013, the Real Estate Agents forums will change from a free forum to a paid forum.

As many agents are trying to post under several users names – we know this due to IP address matches, we are now changing this to give both our readers and you, the real estate agent better visibility

Benefits
The forum will be open to unregistered users to read – open to the public.
Access to Cambodia most visited real estate forum for expat rentals

We regularly share real estate postings (including photos) randomly on our Facebook page – an additional 2500 users - https://www.facebook.com/expatadvisory

Expat Advisory in the coming weeks will reach 14 000 registered users – currently 13912 registered users
Spam Free forums – we are extremely proactive on keeping spammers off the forums.

The same rules will apply – only one post every 24 hours – this keeps the forums clean and stops agents posting multiple postings and clogging up the forums.
