Currently the Qantas Group has an existing 18% holding in Jetstar Pacific, but will increase its investment to 30% of the airline in 2010.
"As Vietnam's first value-based carrier, Jetstar Pacific will change air travel in Vietnam by making it more affordable for more people to fly," said Luong Hoai Nam Jetstar Pacific CEO.
"This includes a fresh approach to airfare ticket sales and product, including online at Jetstar.com and newly re-branded ticketing offices."
Agents will now be able to book Jetstar Pacific services through Jetstar's relaunched trade site at Jetstar.com, direct connect API and other major GDS. Registered Jetstar agents will also earn remuneration for each passengers segment sold on Jetstar Pacific.
Jetstar Pacific currently has an existing fleet of four Boeing 737 aircraft and is expecting an additional B737 to enter service in June this year. The carrier has also recently announced plans for a future fleet of up to 30 Airbus A320 aircraft to be delivered by 2014.
Looking ahead, Jetstar Pacific will solidify its presence in Vietnam domestically as well as establishing new connections through key Asian destinations such as Thailand, Singapore and Cambodia.
Geoff Dixon Qantas Group CEO, Alan Joyce Jetstar CEO, and other senior executives from the Qantas Group were present in Hanoi to attend an official celebratory gala function.
