Headlining the next installment of Supersize Saigon on May 26 are godfathers of Chinese rock PK14 supported by Bad Neighbor. And on the decks in the Blue Room will be highly rated American turntablist Jayceeoh. Get ready for one hell of a show.
Just when you thought Supersize Saigon couldn’t possibly get any bigger, the godfathers of Chinese rock, P.K. 14, are returning to the city that they left in shock and awe in 2009 to headline Vasco’s Yellow Room on Thursday May 26.

Welcome to Nerd Night!
There is a lot I love about Phnom Penh. One of the most significant characteristics is the sense that you can do what ever you want here. Of course this means that you could probably burn down a building or rob a store without little consequence, but these types of unfortunate acts exist everywhere. In a more positive sense you can start things here, and people are. Everywhere you look you can see optimism in development and creative ventures. This optimistic feeling is noticeable almost everyday.

With nearly 600 exhibitors at this year’s Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (Filmart), there was a warm welcome for the new Cambodia Pavilion. Distributors and sales representatives fill the halls of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre each year at one of the three largest film markets in the world.

What to Do on Monday Night? Nerd Out, of Course.
What kind of hard-partying hooligans can be counted on to pack a bar on a Monday night? Nerds, apparently.
Nerd Night, a bi-monthly event that has been held at Gasolina and Equinox this past month, drew a crowd of about 70 to hear presentations on an eclectic mix of topics. Speaking at Gasolina in front of a bedsheet tacked up as a projector screen, Western and Cambodian speakers gave talks on their “nerdy” passions. Presentation format was modeled according to the ancient Japanese PowerPoint discipline of “Pecha Kucha” (of course), wherein each speaker has 20 slides and 20 seconds to talk about each one.

HotShots and Mystery Meat
If you’ve been to Naga World in Phnom Penh (or almost any casino in the world), you’re probably familiar with HotShot. It’s a slot machine which gobbles up your coins (or bills), spins some dials and offers you the chance of getting a HotShot (free triple spin) if you line it up correctly. I have to admit, it’s somewhat addictive.

End of the year events in Vientiane
I am quite impressed with what is going on in Vientiane between Christmas and New Year. There is the Tiger Beer Event at Nam Phou Square, which is one of the most professionally organized events I have seen in SE Asia so far. What I like is that the music fits the audience, both foreigners and locals, the bands are really good and know their business (means no feedback), and the sound is awesome (applause to the guy on the mixer, great job). Food is available. Not that much, but enough for a small dinner, and of course beer is there for a fair price (11.000 KIP for a big bottle).

It's beginning to look a lot like.....
It's my first Christmas in Cambodia and, other than seeing colourful, glittery trees in building lobbies, tuktuks festooned with shiny bits of tinsel and shimmery "Marry Christmas" signs on storefronts, I find it hard to believe it's almost that time of year.
But the Phnom Penh Players are hoping you won't forget since this weekend is their Christmas panto - "Robin In Da Hood", a light-hearted romp with the man in tights and his jolly helpers.

Four female Japanese wrestlers to perform for Cambodia's water festival
PHNOM PENH, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Four female Japanese wrestlers arrived in Cambodia on Friday morning to perform during the water festival which starts Saturday.
Kaing Sothea, deputy director of promotion and marketing department at the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, said Friday that the four wrestlers are Kyoko (Inoue Kyoko), Sato (Sato Ayako), Aono (Aono Keiko), Ito (Ito Kaoru).

Tiger Translate Metropolis
In the middle of November, 4000 Vietnamese rock fans had the chance to experience the combination of Rock and Temporary art show, Tiger Translate Metropolis, with the performances of local bands Ngu Cung (Pentatonic), RoseWood, the Canadian native metal band Hail The Villian and two painters Tran Trung Linh and Bertrand Peret.
