Seoul, Chosun: Experiences of Motion Picture in the Empire Colonial Korea Through Film

Through the month of June, the Korean Film Archive will make available a VOD series of films shot during the Japanese colonial era that shed light on the colonial experience. The films, shot during the 1930s as Japan waged a war of aggression in China, are important historical records that reveal Japan's colonial cultural policies. The films include newsreel films like "Chosun, Our Rear" (1939) and wartime propaganda films like "I Will Die Under My Flag," as well as films that do not directly tie in with colonial wartime or cultural police. You need to sign up with the Korean Movie Database to watch the films.
