EgyptAir's entry into the global membership will strengthen the alliance's network throughout Africa and the Middle East, said Asiana Airlines, a Korean member of Star Alliance.
"With the addition of EgyptAir to the alliance we have become the major alliance serving Africa, with half of our members flying to the African continent," said Jaan Albrecht, CEO of Star Alliance.
Asiana said it will provide frequent flyer and other customer-oriented programs to passengers of EgyptAir as it completed a nine-month integration project. EgyptAir passengers can also enjoy access to lounges of Asiana Airlines at Incheon International Airport.
