Hyundai Asan said it will open the Geumgang-san (Mt. Geumgang) Beach in the scenic resort area for 50 days and a campground will also be available.
Curled around the lower edge of the mountain, the sandy beach stretches some 1.2 kilometers along the East Coast and can accommodate various sized tents for a combined number of about 240 campers per night.
Visitors can spend two nights and three days at the resort area at about 450,000 won per adult, which includes two nights of hotel stays, breakfasts and trips to the mountain area.
While there they can tour the scenic Mt. Geumgang or enjoy various daytime water activities such as motorboating, jet skiing and rock-climbing for additional fees during the daytime, and then can sit around a campfire at night. The first tour to Mt. Geumgang took place in 1998 but the Geumgang-san Beach was open to South Korean visitors from 2002 and the campground has been available since 2005.
The Mt. Geumgang tours for July and August are almost fully booked so those who are interested need to hurry.
