A not for profit tapas style restaurant run by former street youth in training.
Run by local NGO Mith Samlanh, Friends the Restaurant provides training to former street youth and the restaurant is run by the students and their teachers.
Mith Samlanh (meaning 'Friends' in Khmer), is a Cambodian organization that helps around 2000 street children each day, providing them with education, vocational training, medical care, shelter and supports them and their families to find sustainable alternatives to living on the streets.
As part of their training, students learn basic cooking, service, hygiene and safety procedures and gain confidence from dealing with customers. Many of our graduates go on to work at well known hotels and restaurants in Phnom Penh.
All proceeds from the restaurant go back to Mith Samlanh's projects for street children.
Friends serves a great variety of Asian and Western tapas, including sun dried tomato hummus on crispy wonton wrappers.
Khmer Fish and Seafood Soup with Herbs in a Coconut Shell and Khmer yellow bean dessert.
A great selection of vegetarian food is also available.
