While I'm at it is there an expat club (doesn't have to be flash)with a bar tennis courts watch the rugby very social etc etc?

There is the odd sports bar but no club.
Of course the french always had the cercle sportif,they had a bar and pool and tennis.
Every french colonial town had one and there was one in phnom penh,anyone know where it was?

Not really anywhere that does cucumber sandwiches and high tea old boy. The Sports Bar is a good place to watch the rugby and it gets jam packed.
Tennis Courts can be rented at VIP sports club.
The Cambodian Country Club is fairly French.
This town needs a British, Australian and Kiwi Club set on a hectare of prime Norodom land with pool, croquet and billards. No French allowed period and other nationalities by invitation only. :twisted:
Yes you can rent a French Villa with a pool ( or a styling Van Molyvann Khmer one ) but they are scarce and expensive.
