hi all,

i am a 30 y.o. khmer/australian NGO guy who checked out the below ad:
http://www.expat-advisory.com/forum/asia/cambodia/real-estate-cambodia/f...

due to timing and circumstances it looks unlikely that i will be able to move in with nick and his flatmate as i only have enough money to stay in cambodia for another 2 months or so. however, on my way out, i had a chat with the landlady and surprisingly, she is willing to rent out the identical 3 bedroom place nextdoor to me on a short term lease (beginning 31 March or 1 April) for $400 a month (ie $200 between 2 people and $133 between 3). if you plan on staying longer, i am sure i could utilise my "extensive" khmer language skills to ask the landlady if you could take over the lease yourself. the guard, water and cable tv is included in the price of the rent. as far as i know, the only utilities we would have to pay is the electricity bill. i also know a trustworthy cleaning lady who could come once a week to clean and do the ironing etc. for pretty cheap.

as for the apartment itself, you can check out nick's pic on the above link but i can tell you that on the inside it is really clean and there is an ensuite for every bedroom. there's also plenty of room for parking a moto/bicycle downstairs.

i was only there for 1/2 and hour or so but the landlady seemed really nice and the neighbours (nick and his flatmate) seemed nice aswell. "too good to be true," i hear you say...the only catch is i'm gonna ask for first pick of the 3 rooms! haha

i have to get back to the landlady on monday so if you are interested, just send me a PM before then.

cheers,
P

hi there,

me and my flatmate have both just moved into our new place last wednesday and we are still seeking another flatmate to fill the last room upstairs. the room comes with an ensuite but no aircon or fan so you will have to invest in one if you are planning to move in. i think fans go for about $15 dollars a pop on monivong or you can scan one on the many moving sales on the buy, sell, swap page http://www.expat-advisory.com/forum/asia/cambodia/buy-sell-swap-phnom-penh?

although we'd like to fill the room asap, finding the right person is a bigger priority for us. since, we moved in on the 31 March, i am guessing that our 2 month lease will expire on the 31 May. we can probably come to some sort of pro rata arrangement for the days you have already missed this month if you like? if you want to stay longer than 31 May, i can talk to the landlady for you.

about your new flatmates
i work for a local human rights NGO and have been living in PP for the past 18 months.

my roomie is a guy in his mid-20s from greece doing an internship at a solar energy NGO.

we are both pretty easy going and out going people and if you are the same then we'd like to meet you!

the place
the good
the place itself is a 3 bedroom (1 downstairs, 2 upstairs) 4 bathroom khmer style house with the following features: large living room, TV, small balcony, basic kitchenette, washing machine, smallish fridge, guard, ample moto/bike parking and nice family downstairs.

i have brought with me: a DVD player, many DVDs, rice-cooker, electric kettle, pots & pans and cutlery that you would be free to use anytime.

the bad
the previous occupants had a little child so there are some texta marks on the walls and the showers don't seem to spout hot water.

how quickly does 2 months fly by?

both of my lovely roomies are wrapping up their respective internships in PP and will be going back to europe at the end of may leaving behind: 1 sad roomie Sad along with 1 large bedroom with aircon ($135 per month) and 1 slightly smaller bedroom without aircon ($130).

i am planning on staying on at the flat for another couple of months so i am on the lookout for 2 prospective roomies to share the flat with.

rent is $400 per month in total divided by 3 (135+135+130) payable to the landlady in advance due to the short duration of the lease.

pm me if you are interested or alternatively call me on 098 329 639.

here is a link to some pics of the place:

hi guest 123,

1 room is definitely still available. my new roomie (the american girl) will move in at the end of may says she doesn't care whether she takes the larger room (for $135 per month) or the smaller room (for $130 per month) so if you are interested in the flat, you still can have your choice of either the large room or the small room.

if you haven't seen them already, please check out my pics below:

call me on 098 329 639 to tee up a time when i can show you the place.

cheers,
P
