I will be moving to Phnom Penh with my three kids (11, 10, 7) early November for one or two years. I have read the tips about staying in a guest-house for a month while I look around for a house or an apartment. My kids will be going to ISPP. Can anyone recommend a family-friendly guest house? Alternatively, we would be happy to sub-lease a house. Thank you!

Michelle, I would seriously consider about a serviced apartment. 3 kids in a guest house, with many transients?

Embassy Place is, in my opinion the most cost effective and it is just down the road from ISPP.

There is a swimming pool and it is secure, plus the staff there are great with looking after kids.

We stayed there for 2 months (parents and one child) on our return to Cambodia this time.

They are generally full so I would start talking to them soon

That is exactly what I am looking for. I will ask one of my friends to go ask them if they have any place! Cheers, Michelle

You could take a look at Palm Place also, i stayed there for a few weeks when I first arrived in phnom penh. It's on street 19, about 2 blocks north of the intersection with sihanouk blvd. Has pool, gym, internet, all the usuals ... but again, usually full.

Hi Michelle
just curious as to how you got on with the move and settling in etc? did you choose one of the above paces? was it suitable. so others can learn from experience we appreciate feedback, on both positive (we hope) and negative things (not too many we hope). Hopefully others can avoid newly set traps

Cheers
Anthony

Yes, we did stay at the Embassy Place. It's nice, quiet, the grounds are spacious, the pool is a great size with a shallow end for smaller kids to play. The apartments are spacious and well appointed. The staff are friendly and nice. They have good security. If they had had a four bedroom we would have stayed forever! I would recommend it to anyone travelling with a family and looking for a place to stay while they look for long-term housing.

We hope to be moving into a house in a couple of weeks. We tried estate agents but ultimately driving up and down the streets of BKK1 looking for signs on the gates and places being renovated led to the most interesting leads.

Cheers, Michelle and co
