Any ideas how to reach Vietnam border in Ha Tien from PP by bus?

Willing to reach the ferry at Rach Gia for Phu Quoc island.

I tried to cross from Ha Tien into Cambodia in Jan 2008 and found it wasn't possible as the roads from Ha Tien to the border were closed (they were in disrepair and roadworks, so I hitch hiked from there to Chau Doc then caught a boat across the border then onto a bus for the last hour into PP. Very good boat trip on the slow boat and recommend it.

Remember to organise your Viet visa prior to leaving PP as you cannot get them on the border. Lucky Lucky motorcycle in Monivong I found the best for all my Visas. $1 commission.

Roads are fine now. $35 dollars from Phnom Penh to Prek Chak Border crossing via taxi and another dollar/two to get into Ha Tien, Viet Nam. Once in Ha Tien you can (i) take their ferry to Pho Quoc or (ii) catch another bus to Rach Gia.

Was in Phu Quoc over New Years and saw some travel agencies who advertised about a bus going from Ha Tien to PP. Don't know anything about the other way around though. Maybe some of the many agencies here know something about it.

Yes, right, tried both of the above options (outbound through Kep, Ha Tien and Rach Gia / return through Chau Doc, Takeo) but I finally found out on my way back that there are direct buses to PP through Ha Tien (and not Rach Gia) with direct and faster boats doing Phu Quoc <> Ha Tien (as Belevaere states in the previous post). The buses seem to pick you up at your hotel, bring you to the boat and then all the way to PP, icl. border crossing. The advertised price is 18 $ for bus only and can be done the same day - which is not the case with ferries at Rach Gia.

The leaflet I took there gives only the reference for booking in Ha Tien but the bus on the picture has this logo: Cambodia Angkor Express Ltd.

I just spent a week there and, although overbooked at this season, it was really worth the trip! Wide variety of places to stay and eat near/next/on the beach, clean water, beggar-free beaches and hassle-free motorbike rentals around every corner for 5$.

Frankly, the comparison is really fatal for Sville... (which btw totally lacks mid-range hotels right on the beach and this certainly won't change in the near future).
