Can anyone tell me the location of any shops that sell fitted kitchens in Phnom Penh. I found a couple already. But really would like some more to choose from.
In case anyone else is interested, the best place I've found so far is Bocarni, they have some nice stuff, glossy catalogs and helpful staff, the only downside is that they carry no stock in Cambodia, so it takes 50 days to deliver. I'll probably go with them if I can't find any other shops.
I also found one on Mao Tse Toung near Parkway (can't remember the name), that had no catalog, wouldn't let me take photo's and didn't even seem to be sure of the price, then when pressed they seemed to make up a ridiculous price on the spot.
I've also scouted around all of those furniture shops on Monivong between Mao Tse Toung and Sihanouk. Also had a quick, although not thorough look at Mao Tse Toung between Monivong and InterCon hotel.
If anyone else has any ideas it would be much appreciated. Cheers.
Hi Chris there is one more along the road to the airport. Around the turn off to toul kork and I think one further on as well. You might want try the attwood center as well. there seems to be more activity there as well lately, just not sure if its the kitchen variety.
Let us know when the cook off is on.
Photos... Cambodian used to build houses with photos, not building plans. They most likely think you are out to steal ideas to open your own kitchen shop...

Thanks Anthony I'll check it out.
Also found a really good place on street 271 called Big Sun Kitchen (Big Sun Kitchen) they have a good portfolio to choose and most importantly a wide range of materials to suite most budgets, had their designer out to our house this morning to take the measurements. They also take 50 to order, but it seems like that's the norm.
There's a place we've been looking at called Modern Kitchen next to Modern Gas on Monivong just up from the intersection with st 310. Wd be interested to see how you go - near the Chinese Noodle places (great eating btw)
We're in Kompong Saom and have a quote from a good local (Vietnamese) woodworker to install cupboards at $75/linear metre - nice hardwood. I think the cheapest quote from professional kitchen installers in PP was $150/sqm and that's using MDF! Let us know how you go
as you seem to be in the know lads, maybe you can help out with this one?
The problem with the hardwood here is that it's rarely aged properly, you can get away with that for thick doors, beds and stuff but for more intricate things like cabinetry it will all be warped within a year and draws won't close properly. Seen this first hand in a friends kitchen.
I will check out Modern Kitchen, we bought the kitchen at our last place from Modern Gas near central market but they weren't there when I got back. For our last one they were good on price, but the materials didn't hold up to well and the laminate was starting to separate from the MDF when we sold the place.
I had many problems from Modern Gas chains, from defective products to product misrepresentation. Their so called 1 warranty is worthless, and they would give you the run arounds until the warranty expire. Maybe others had better luck with Modern Gas but from my previous experience I will give them a wide berth.
