Digital Divide Data bridges the divide that separates young people from opportunity by providing disadvantaged youth in Cambodia and Laos with the education and training they need to deliver world-class, competitively priced IT services to global clients, acquire essential business management skills, and break the cycle of poverty.

DDD is looking to hire a HTML, CSS, JAVA, SQL Developer to complete the technical aspects of the organization’s newly developed intranet “Bridge” and prepare it for hand-off to the local software development team for regular maintenance.

Bridge is based on the Confluence application. As a CMS, Confluence allows for document management, detailed security, rich text / wikipedia editing, flexible search, blogs, RSS, labels, office integration, HTML/PDF/Word export, reporting with statistics / graphs / charts, and embedding of documents such as PDF, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files. In addition, Confluence has a vast amount of plug-ins that can be used (100+ free plug-ins) to enrich its experience and render it more interactive.
The developer will work closely with DDD’s software development team in Phnom Penh, Cambodia to solve existing issues and prepare to handover the project to the local staff. He/she will work on a project basis (40-60 hours total) either on location or remotely.

Key Responsibilities:

• Troubleshooting and fixing existing bugs in the system (tracked in JIRA)
• Making adjustments to the Confluence template
• Installing updates and security certificates, as well as add, implement, and extend functionality and new features
• Research and test ways to improve speed and server stability
• Communicate solutions, challenges, and next steps to the local software development team.

Essential Requirements:

• HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, Java, SQL
• Experience in Java development environment (familiarity with memory heap issues, servlets, JSP, etc.), MS SQL Server, MYSQL, Velocity, Tomcat use, Windows Server 2003, VMWare, Apache Struts, Spring, Hibernet and JasperReport
• Java and JAR archives

Preferable:

• Master use of Confluence and wiki markup
• SQL/database experience, familiarity with memory issues with Windows and/or JAVA
