Are you in Cambodia looking for a hands-on experience in rural Cambodia?

The Supplemental Teaching Education Project (STEP) is a Cambodian NGO that seeks to improve the quality of Cambodian primary school education. STEP is implementing several projects to develop the physical environment at the schools as well as providing new educational skills including English language and digital technology.

STEP is currently operating in two schools in Kampong Cham province, located 30km from Phnom Penh.

Volunteer Role

STEP is seeking a volunteer English teacher to support STEP’s English Program. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in working in education or international development. The minimum commitment for the position is 3 months, although longer-term availability will be welcomed. The volunteer’s tasks will include:
- Teaching conversational English to students of grade 5 and 6.
- Offering input to enhance STEP’s English curriculum.
- Organizing complementary activities to allow students practice their English skills (theater performances, games, etc.)

Qualifications/ Requirements

- Undergraduate Degree, preferably in the education or languages.
- English teaching experience is a plus.
- Native speaker of English.
- Initiative and capacity to work independently as part of a team.
- Willingness to live in rural Cambodia.

Housing and food

STEP provides accommodation and meals. The volunteer will live with a host family very close to the school.
The volunteer will work from Monday to Friday, with weekends off.
