I am looking for a Khmer research assistant to help me with 3 weeks research in the village of Chamcar Bei, in Kep, from 3rd - 22nd June. If you are interested, or know anyone who might be, please contact me. The job is as below:

Position: Khmer Research Assistant, Kep

Job Description: Research assistant required to assist British PhD student with data collection and translation. The research will be conducted in the village of Chamcar Bei (Phnom Voar), Damnak Chang Eur District, Kep, and undertakes qualitative research with the community there. Data
collection methods are primarily observation, conversational analysis, in-depth interviews and group interviews. The job will involve assisting us in negotiating with provincial, district, commune and village officials, making appointments, and conducting research within the community. Some independent research may be required.

The job is short-term, from 3rd - 22nd June (3 weeks). Interviews to be conducted on 3rd June to start immediately. Pay is dependent on level of English and research experience. Students who wish to build upon their CV, increase their knowledge and

Must be available between 3rd - 22nd June.

Essential Requirements:


* Fluency in Khmer and good spoken English. 

* Ability to write English for translation purposes – computer literacy is preferred but not required.
* Outgoing, personable demeanour, with excellent people skills.
* Ability and willingness to communicate with all levels of society.
* Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
* Must be able to travel to Chamcar Bei independently.
* Must be available from 3rd - 22nd June.

Preferred Requirements:
* Experience in social research methods, including interviewing and observational research.
* Knowledge of the history and politics of the local area.
* Ability to undertake independent research.
* Experience in negotiating with local and provincial authorities.
