The objective of Handicap International Belgium (HIB) is to help people with disabilities to regain their independence, dignity and rights. HIB is currently seeking a qualified and motivated person to fill the position of Road Safety Research Consultant
For the sociological analysis of the road safety situation in Cambodia, on historical, cultural and political aspects

The position is based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, with regular travels to provinces as necessary, and should be started at the beginning of November, 2008.

Main Tasks/Responsibilities

* overall quality, planning and implementation of the operation research;
* literature search and desk review of documentation;
* design of research activities, question guides, other qualitative tools and sampling frames;
* liaison with relevant agencies;
* conduct of selected key information interviews, eld observation and focus group discussion;
* routine checking and validation of interview notes and other research data collected by study team;
* analysis of nding and drafting of required documents;
* preparation of nal report;
* capacity building for the local team in conducting the research and revise the team structure/responsibility if necessary;
* draft the TOR for the second research on the impact of the road trac accidents in economy and poverty reduction strategy of the Cambodian government.

Required Competencies:

* Experience in the eld of road safety and behavioral factors related to road safety and trac and transportation;
* A background in human sciences like sociology or psychology or poverty reduction strategies is an advantage;
* Experience in developing countries, especially in Asia.
* Perfect knowledge of spoken and written English.
* Describe relevant experience of the team members and their role within the project.
