Job Description

The Cambodian Rural Development Team is a local NGO formed in 2001 to undertake development projects which improve the living standards of subsistence communities in rural Cambodia. The teams’ projects generate environmentally positive sustainable development outcomes, when renewable resources and appropriate agricultural technologies are skilfully combined in partnership with the beneficiaries themselves. CRDT is looking to recruit a foreign Management Advisor to be based in Kratie Town, Kratie Province. This is a senior position within the organization and will be responsible to advise the Executive Director and Management Committee on all aspects of management of CRDT as well as be able to implement the following:

1. Donor relations, fundraising and responsibility for timely submission of donor reports.

2. Responsible for human resource management, leadership, and motivation, as well as recruitment of new staff and possible foreign volunteers.

3. Project management oversight for four (4) sustainable livelihoods projects supporting conservation efforts in Northeast Cambodia

4. Advisory role on financial management and financial reporting.

5. Advisory role with planning and administration for field staff.

6. Advisory role with coordination and communication with International partner organisations and government.

7. Providing and sourcing other Development and Conservation related Technical Advice as appropriate (i.e. Knowledge on sustainable livelihoods, agricultural systems, community based eco-tourism, and rural technologies such as biodigesters).

8. Providing and sourcing appropriate training to continue capacity building for CRDT staff.

Essential Requirements

The Essential Requirements for the position are:

• University Degree (Master’s would be preferable) in Development Studies, Environmental Sciences, Social Sciences, Management, or Sustainable Development.

• Previous experience with NGO capacity building and strategic fund raising.

• A competent and highly self-motivated manager with excellent interpersonal and technical working skills.

• Technical writing skills including: project proposals, progress reports, case studies, and other administrative documents.

• Ability to develop and implement realistic strategic goals for organizational development.

• Knowledgeable of key poverty, social development, and environmental issues in Cambodia

• Understanding of Knowledge Management tools such as: Project Cycle Management, PRAs, Community Needs Assessments, Sustainable Livelihood Assessments, Case Studies, and Monitoring and Evaluation.

• Good communication skills; good command of English language (both written and spoken) is essential; ability to speak Khmer would be useful.

• Ability to provide leadership and moral guidance to a group of 20 young, ambitious Cambodians.

• A true desire and dedication to work with a developing local NGO that’s making a difference in the lives of thousands of people and the environment they live in.
