Hagar Social Enterprise Group (HSEG) is a for-profit subsidiary of Hagar International. HSEG manages Hagar’s social enterprise investments, which provide sustainable training, employment opportunities and an empowering workplace environment for survivors of extreme human rights abuses. HSEG is a pioneer in social entrepreneurship with a 16-year history of social business development and cross-sector partnerships in Cambodia and Vietnam.

HSEG is now hiring a Social Enterprise Director (SED). The SED will lead the strategic expansion of Hagar's social enterprise activities in Afghanistan, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. This includes:

• The development of a new social enterprise or joint venture in Afghanistan
• The development of new joint ventures and/or start-up social enterprises in Southeast Asia that serve Hagar’s mission and clients
• The development of new cross-sector partnerships that add value to Hagar’s mission and clients (i.e. healthcare, education)
• The development of a framework and/or certification system for new private sector partners that wish to employ and/or train Hagar clients; could be used to drive wider adoption of progressive policies, systems and values in the private sector
• A review of Hagar’s career preparation process and private sector partnerships
• The development of fundraising model for HSEG in coordination with support offices, and a strategy for sustainable expansion
• On-the-ground support for each country office to ensure strategy alignment, and to support investment-social program integration
• Management and monitoring of HSEG's investment portfolio (Joma Bakery Cafe and Hagar Catering and Facilities Management)

This position is based at Hagar International's operational HQ in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The Social Enterprise Director will spend up to 50% of his/her time traveling to Vietnam, Afghanistan and potentially Myanmar.

Experience/Qualifications:

• 5-10 years working experience in venture capital investment, social entrepreneurship, or business development
• Entrepreneurial with a strong business development acumen and commercial experience
• Relentless and realistic how-to thinking and a passion for seeing ideas come to life
• Private sector experience in change management, organizational development, and governance an asset
• Asia-specific professional experience an asset
• Prior experience in social enterprise development or social enterprise investment an asset
• Experience in corporate social responsibility or cross-sector partnership management an asset
• Excellent English communication skills and willingness to learn new languages (Khmer, Vietnamese, Dari)
• High commitment to Hagar’s core values, vision and mission
