Friends-International is a social enterprise that works with marginalized urban children and youth, their families and communities, to help them become independent and productive citizens of their country.
Friends-International is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Vocational Training Technical Advisor.

Position overview:

The Vocational Training Technical Advisor will support Friends-International teams and partners to provide best practice vocational training and job placement services to marginalized young people in Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Indonesia and other countries where Friends-International and its partners operate.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING TECHNICAL ADVISOR will:

• Provide technical support and advice to Friends-International’s local teams and partner Non Government Organizations on vocational training and job placement projects;
• Update and develop Standards Of Procedure and training materials to build the capacity of teams and ensure best practice in vocational training and job placement projects;
• Work closely with the Friends Social Business team to develop vocational training businesses where trainees can get hands-on experience to practice their skills;
• Represent Friends-International in relevant workshops, in meetings with government and development partners relevant to vocational training and support to access employment or self-employment;
• Monitor the implementation of vocational training projects and conduct project evaluations as needed;
• Participate in proposal development to raise funds for vocational training projects in close collaboration with the grants team.

Experiences and qualifications:

• Relevant education (the candidate will either be a graduate from vocational education him/herself, or have relevant education in business, education, international development or other relevant field).
• Preferably have a good knowledge of Cambodia or another country in the region. He/she will have a good understanding of the economic context, job market and education system in fast growing economies of developing countries.
• Experience working on vocational training projects or other project linked to access to employment and professional skills development.
• Experience in the private sector and particularly starting-up or running businesses would be a strong asset.
• Very good communication skills. Flexible, open minded and able to work well with people of different cultures and education levels. Experience facilitating training and building the capacity of local teams.
• Computer literate
• Good command of spoken and written English. Knowledge of Khmer, Thai, Lao, other Asian language or Arabic would be a strong asset.

Location: The position is based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and will require frequent local and international travel.

Duration: This is a full time position.

Salary and benefits will be commensurate with qualifications and experiences.
