Friends-International is a social enterprise that works with marginalized urban children and youth, their families and communities, to help them become independent and productive citizens of their country.
Friends-International (FI) initiated TREE (Training Restaurant for Employment and Entrepreneurship) alliance that represents a global alliance of training restaurants working to build futures for former street youth, marginalized young people and adults. The alliance is expanding its internationally recognized and successful vocational training restaurant model across South-East Asia and beyond.
We are seeking a qualified and motivated candidate to fill the full-time position of Chef Trainer and Advisor to join the development of this exciting initiative. (www.tree-alliance.org).

Position overview
The Chef Trainer and Advisor will implement International kitchen standards and provide training to hospitality staff together with the TREE alliance team. The trainer will be teaching “hands-on’’ in busy training restaurants as well as in classroom situations. This position will be part of the following projects:
• Providing technical support for the current 5 members of the alliance in Cambodia and Lao P.D.R
• Expanding the project to Thailand, Indonesia and Myanmar

CHEF TRAINER AND ADVISOR will:
• Advise all training restaurant teams and provide field-based technical support
• Create and update Standards of Procedures and cooking curricula
• Develop trainings for cooking teachers
• Provide cooking and chef trainings as well as cooking demonstrations
• Provide health and safety trainings
• Provide general and personal hygiene trainings
• Develop menus and carry out food costing
• Set up an international standard kitchen from scratch for future TREE Alliance restaurant projects

Experiences and qualifications:
• Trained Chef with minimum 5 years of work experience as a Chef
• Excellent communication skills and training qualities
• Patient, energetic, flexible, thorough and able to work in a team with various cultural backgrounds, passion for Asian food is a plus
• Knowledge in how to run an international standard restaurant kitchen
• Basic computer skills (Word, Excel)
• Fluency in English (verbal and written), any other Asian language is a plus

Location: This position is based in Phnom Penh but requires frequent local and international travel.

Salary and benefits will be commensurate with qualifications and experiences.
