JOB VACANCY

AT THE BRITISH EMBASSY, PHNOM PENH

A vacancy has arisen for a Deputy Management Officer at the British Embassy in Phnom Penh. The job will become available from Monday 13 July 2009 and is being offered on a two-year contract basis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 To provide day-to-day oversight of the Management Section and deputise for the Management Officer.
 Budget forecasting and managing expenditure.
 To oversee the smooth running of the Accounts Office.
 Supervision of procurement.
 Day-to-day management of the Embassy building and residential estate.
 Implementation of British Health & Safety standards.
 Human resource management.
 Supervision of the security guards and guarding contract.
 Preparation of emergency plans.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE (Selection Criteria): The successful candidate will:

 Have a tertiary level qualification or equivalent.
 Have a minimum of 3 years work experience in customer service, preferably in an international context.
 Have fluent written and spoken English.
 Be a clear and concise communicator, with proven ability to communicate professionally and accurately with UK and international contacts.
 Be computer literate with full working knowledge of the major Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc).
 Have a working knowledge of budget management.
 Have the ability and skills to manage sensitive information appropriately.
 Be well organised, an excellent communicator and a team player.
 Have proven line management skills.
 Have the flexibility to work occasionally out of office hours.
 As some travel outside the Kingdom of Cambodia may be required, applicants must hold a current passport and have no adverse immigration history that might prevent entry to the United Kingdom.

The position will be offered on a two-year fixed-term employment contract. The successful candidate can expect to receive a competitive salary and remuneration package, which includes medical and health insurance benefits.
