Welcome! There's plenty of interesting things to read on the Forums.
If you're looking for an answer about something particular...
Chances are you've come here via a Google search. First, take a look at recent posts in the forum where you landed, and other forums for that country which may also be relevant. Then... no, the next step is not to post your question as a new topic.
There's quite a lot of activity on the EAS Forums. People have spent their own time to provide answers to the questions of others. The polite thing to do is to check the work that's already been done before you post a question - maybe it's already been answered for you.
There's a button labelled "search" at the top of the page. The search function is fast and easy to use.
Pop in a keyword and then look for matching topics, or topics with a lot of replies or a lot of views. There's a good chance you'll get a lot of information directly that way, and the keyword search will show you threads that discuss your question, even if the topic name doesn't match what you're looking for (people do sometimes drift off topic). If you want to, you can also use the drop down box to restrict the search to only Category>[Country of choice] which really narrows down the search and makes it easy to check for recent info relevant to you.
Hopefully you'll find the answer to your question this way! If you still don't have an answer to your question, but you find a recent discussion which is along the same line, it's best if you then add your question(
to the relevant discussion thread - which brings the thread back to the top and includes the past discussion for everyone to refer to, as well as being able to respond to you. An added bonus is that people interested in that topic will normally be "watching" that conversation thread, and be notified of your question's arrival by email, which really increases your chance of getting a prompt and useful response.
Of course, don't be afraid to start a new topic yourself if there's no recent info here for you! That's what the forums are for. All I'm saying is keep it together where possible. Ultimately, this saves members having to do extra work responding to repeated questions, and because the information on a topic will be collected in one place, the forums will be more useful for everyone.

I gotta be honest that the search function has not been helpful for me. I remembered that there had been a post a few months back on a place to buy boxes and I wanted to check it out.
Limiting to just the Phnom Penh forum I searched searched for: "box" "box*" "box OR boxes" and "boxes" and received NO hits for any posts. Sometimes it would also tell me that I couldn't place another search so quickly after my first.
I was only able to find the post I wanted from May 2008 by searching for "boxes" without a forum restriction. But then I had to wade through alot of unrelated posts as well.
It was a pain and if I was a new member who didn't know that topic had already been discussed I would've given up and started a new post.
its all we have. it works quite well for some searches and not for others. box is quite a common word and there may appear a few times within the forums.
try searching for box on Google. I am sure you will also have quite a few entries to sort through.

As stated in the instructions above I recommend you restrict your searches using category and not forums.
I did a search for keyword "boxes" for category "Cambodia" and six topic results were returned. This includes the ones about the moving boxes which I presume were the ones you were thinking of?
The same search restricting by forum "Expat Forum Phnom Penh" returns no result and I think this is because it only searches for postings that are in that heading forum, not the subforums. We don't post to the header forum, thus no results. Category search option is there to perform the sort of searches users on this site would typically want to do. You should only use the forum choice if you know it's in a specific forum rather than "somewhere in country x".
