DOCUMENTARY - A camera crew follows German-Australian photographer Helmut Newton, whose images of tall, blond, big-breasted women are part of the iconography of twentieth-century erotic fantasy. FRAMES FROM THE EDGE (1989, 95 min) was directed by Pink Floyd documentarian Adrian Maben and he does an admirable job of capturing Newton’s creative process as well as shedding light on him as a person through insightful interviews with Sigourney Weaver, Charlotte Rampling, Bob Evans, Catherine Deneuve, Karl Lagerfield and more.
