4PM: DOCUMENTARY - For the participatory film project WE WANT (U) TO KNOW (2012, 54 min), Cambodian villagers use video cameras to document what they have gone through during and after the Khmer Rouge era. Realizing the limitations of existing education and information material about Cambodia’s transitional justice process, filmmakers Ella Pugliese and Nou Va provided an alternative to the centralization and ‘one-way’ flow of most media in the context of the Khmer Rouge Tribunal,they offered Khmer Rouge victims and their descendants a chance to get deeply involved in the filming process, from conception to production. In October 2013 their final result won the Community Cinema Award in Yamagata.
