RARELY SEEN IN THE WEST: “YOUNG AND RESTLESS IN CHINA”
China’s economy is considered the economic wonder of the world. Filmmaker Sue Williams portraits the lives of five wildly ambitious graduates, a hip hop artist, two migrant workers, a dedicated medical resident and a courageous environmental activist. “YOUNG & RESTLESS IN CHINA” (2008, 106mins) captures the highs and lows of coming of age - accompanied by a driving soundtrack of Chinese rock and hip hop music.
The night is opened with Sokuntevy Oeur’s video dairy “ANOTHER CAMBODIA” (2009, 6mins). The Khmer female artist documents her first residency in Yunnan province.
