American owner of Pattaya Newspaper caught-up in 7 Million Baht extortion case

Following reports of extortion charges and the arrest of American Drew Noyes, publisher of the Pattaya Times, the 56-year-old expat at press time allegedly was in the process of arranging bail.

Noyes and 29-year-old Editor Wanrapa Boonsu, both denied accusations that they tried to extort millions of baht from Mike Oscar Goulet, the Australian owner of the Thonglor Clinic which has branches in Jomtien and Bangkok.

Cambodia Basketball team at the SEA Games will today take on Thailand in their second group B game following a comprehensive lose to Defending Champions Philippines on Monday. The Philippines won the tie 127-68 leaving Cambodia to seek for an outright win over neighbors Thailand who defeated Vietnam in the first game on Monday 85-54.

" we knew Philippines will be a problem, We have always struggled against them so we now have to win our next two games to give us a chance of going into the next round" Coach Austin Koledoye said.

Hundreds die in Thailand and Cambodia floods

At least 356 people have been killed in Thailand and Cambodia since August in flash floods, according to government officials.

The death toll is higher in Thailand, where 206 people have died while 150 were killed in neighbouring Cambodia.

Keo Vy, the spokesman of the Cambodian government disaster agency, said on Sunday that flood waters along the Mekong river and other places had damaged 670,000 acres of rice fields, as well as 904 schools and 361 Buddhist temples.

Three Malaysians, including a three-year-old boy, and one Thai national died in explosions near two hotels and a Chinese-Thai cultural centre in a coordinated attack in Sungai Golok town, Narathiwat province on Friday night.
