You work hard in the morning, and you are tired of the noon traffic jam that eats up half of your lunch break if you go home for having the meal there. There are a lot affordable and good choices in town.
1. Vegetarian Lunch Buffet
Its a small but very delicious local restaurant, offering the best of Lao and Asian food, but no animals were harmed during preparation. All you can eat for 20.000 KIP. It is located in a small street near Simuang Supermarket. after the Supermarket, just turn right and you will find it after 50 meter on the left hand. All
2. P.V.O. Vietnamee Food
It's not a secret that this place offers real good Vietnamese food. Not that much of variety, but perfect for a lunch stop. On dish about 15.000 KIP. It is located between Kouvieng and Samsenthai Road. Coming from Kouvieng, turn at the LG shop and watch for the PVO sign.
3. Ansara Hotel
If a too local environment isn't the right place for you, you may want to enjoya bit of luxury, without spending a fortune. Go to Ansara Hotel. Beautiful seating in the outside garden, and the recently updated lunch menu offers small and affordable bits from french baguette to spaghetti and salads.
4. Small room crepe cafe
Not that much hungry? Then try a crepe at the Small Room cafe next to Simuang Supermarket. They offer sweet crepes as well as with Ham and Cheese or Crab sticks.
5. Nudle Take Away
Missing the Chinese Take Away food you liked so much in the States? Nudle Take Away is close too that. As he name says, it is all about noodles, Asian style. They recently introduced Green Curry as well. Perfect for a short lunch break since preparation is very fast there. Located near the back entrance of Wat Simuang, not far from Monument Toys.
6. Joma Bakery
This shop is more know for coffee and breakfast, but actually also serves quite delicious baguettes and sandwiches. My all time favorite is the Reuben sandwich, while others fell in love with the tuna melt. The well trained Joma staff brings food fast, and thanks to Wifi you can still check your emails.
