Across the bamboo bridge just down from Phosai Mountain tucked away in the forests is a hidden gem, the Dyen Sabia Restaurant.

Surrounded by bamboo, palms and mango trees, tranquility awaits you. Spacious chillout pavilions with low tables and comfortable cushions and mats over looking the Namkhan River.

Sitting by the river with good, cheap drinks, board games and books makes an evening here like no other. We could have spent hours playing and drinking. It's a great place to relax and read a book or hang out with friends in the private nooks and crannies.

Service was a little slow but courteous. Hey, we are in Launag Parabang! It’s that sort of town; very, very laid back. The easy fix is to take your second cocktail during Happy Hour and watch life on the river go by. Happy Hour is very cheap for the quality of drinks – two for one - and runs from 12-7PM. As well as well-made cocktails, the food was fresh and top-notch.

Breakfasts, listing almost everything from basic to the standard American breakfast, including crepes, are served until 2PM.

Cocktails from 35 000 kip – with the top-end long island iced tea priced at 60 000 kip.

Wines are available by the glass as well as the bottle. Not a full cellar on offer, but you didn’t come to Laos for the wines I would suspect. Glasses from 25 000 kip and bottles from 160 000 kip.

Dyen Sabi also offers a backpacker menu. Surprising as the range in the menu is already reasonably priced at an average plate costing 25 000 – 30 000 kip.

The owner, Natalie has spent 6 years in Laos and is only too happy to sit down and go over the menu with you as well as offer tips for other spots in Laung Prabang.

There is NO bridge toll from 6PM. Before that it costs 4000 kip. The bridge washes away around June with the rising of the river. From June to November there is a boat for access to the village.
