Expat Advisory

RiverWind is an idyllic rural hideaway located on the east bank of the Mekong River at Arexat Village, directly opposite the Royal Palace. Relax from the moment you alight from the boat into the lush tropical garden, scented with frangipani, jasmine and gardenia. Chill out by the private pool, where the only sound is the rustle of the river breeze in the palm trees. Unwind in a deckchair on the lawn and watch the river flow. Take in timeless sunsets over the urban skyline, or go on a sundown river cruise.

RiverWind is a spacious tropical hardwood villa hidden in a 1.5 acre garden. It artfully blends the best of contemporary design with traditional Cambodian architecture. The villa’s downstairs opens onto an azure pool with a 180 degree view of Phnom Penh. Elegantly appointed master bedroom, spacious indoor/outdoor bathroom, loft-like living room with fully-equipped modern kitchen/bar. Second bedroom suitable for up to two children or an additional adult. Ceiling fans and air-conditioning throughout. Wireless internet.

RiverWind is the home of Dr Andrew Thomson, humanitarian worker and co-author of the bestselling book “Emergency Sex and Other Desperate Measures”, currently optioned for television by HBO.

Getting There
RiverWind is accessible only by boat. Our staff will meet you on arrival at Phnom Penh’s international airport and drive you through the city to the port, where a private speedboat will whisk you across the river directly to the villa.

Local Sights
Experience rural Cambodia right outside RiverWind’s front gate. Visit the local market, bicycle around the ricefields, stroll through a pagoda or the nearby fishing village or take a 10 minute tuktuk ride on the car ferry into the city.
