The finest Texan Blues direct from the bayous of The Deep Southern Hemisphere (That'd be Australia then)

'We've been playing together long enough for resentment to set in, but not long enough for full blown hatred yet.'

So says bluesman Paul Janovskis of his relationship with on/off musical collaborator Matt Dwyer. They've been performing together occasionally around the swamps and bayous of their native Elwood (Australia) for a good while now, and are about to arrive in Cambodia on their second tour of South East Asia.

And this intimacy, slowly creeping into resentment, is reflected in the intricate interplay of their music, a smoking Blues gumbo with a bit of Texas hot sauce mixed in for good measure. Their influences include Stevie Ray Vaughan, John ‘Guitar’ Wilson, Earl King and Sun rockabilly.

So what brings them back to South East Asia? According to Matt it’s Singapore Airlines, according to Paul it’s the good food, good venues, fine weather and appreciative audiences.

This time around they’ll be inaugurating Cadillac Bar as a live music venue, being the first musicians ever to play there: as well as playing dates at Mao’s Pub, Paddy Rice, Equinox and the FCCs in both Phnom Penh and Siem Riep.

They’ve just completed the first leg of their tour in Vietnam with a rousing response and are rolling down the Mekong towards the mean streets of Phnom Penh. So if you like your blues fast paced, spiced with Texas spirit and delivered with a dash of Aussie charm, get yourself down to one of the following venues:

Mao's Pub on Friday 28th of October,
FCC Phnom Penh on Saturday 29th of October,
FCC Siem Reap on Mon 31st October,
Equinox Bar on Friday 4th of November
Cadillac Bar on Saturday 5th of November (venue inauguration)
Mao's Pub on Friday 11th of November
Paddy Rice on Saturday 12th of November.
