Australian born ready to Swim for Cambodia.

Australian Born Bethany Robertson is looking forward to be the next foreign based athelte to represent the Kingdom in International Circuit. The 16 Year Old Swimmer currently Attending Genazzano FCJ College in Victoria Australia has indicated interest to Represent Cambodia rather than her country of Residence.

Born to a Cambodian Mother and Australian Father, Bethany has taken part in well over 40 Championships in Australia.

According to the president of Surrey Park swimming Club Inc, the Club where Bethany is Presently training, Mr. John Robertson, Bethany is a State and National Age Group Champion in Distance events and sees her as a prospect for Cambodia Swimming.

In an Email Sent to the NOCC to inquire about Bethany's eligibility, John Robertson highlighted, Bethany's impressive Swimming records which has seen her emerge 10 times as champion of her age grade competition especially in the long distance swimming.

"Within our club we have a young female distance swimmer (Bethany Robertson) whose mother is Cambodian by birth. Bethany is a state and national age group champion in distance events and I am inquiring about whether there is a process by which Bethany could be considered for selection as a representative for Cambodia" Wrote John Robertson.

In reaction to the inquiry, NOCC Secretagy General Mr. Vath Chamroeun is delighted to have more foreign based Khmer athletes willing to represent the country as long as they meet the standard.

"We welcome Khmer athletes based abroad if they meet the standard expected of them, We have to check her records against the top athletes at the last SEA games and if she has good timming, we would be happy to invite her" Says Vath Chamroeun.

Meanwhile Secretary General of Cambodian Swimming Federation, Mr Hem Thon haven seen Bethany's Records is confident that she would be a good prospect in the future as her records in the Long Distance Swimming is quite impressive.

"She should be able to make it into the National Team" He stated. "Its unfortunate that we discovered her too late, her personal best in the long distance could have earned her a gold in the Last SEA Games" he noted. "We will be having about four championships next year and would extend invitation to her to try out, should she be good enough, we would be happy to have her in the team for the future SEA Games, Asian Games and probably Olympics" Asserted Hem Thon.
