A slightly weaker Typhoon Pepeng (international codename Parma) continues to slow down and has shifted course slightly, threatening to make landfall in Northern Cagayan instead of Aurora-Isabela by Saturday evening, weather bureau PAGASA said Friday.

Not long ago I had the distinct pleasure of attending a meeting of the Angeles City Philippines Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans. It was held at the
Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post, also in Angeles City.

Gene Davis and Family...

In a local newspaper there had been an ongoing series of articles written by individuals who wanted to persuade LDS Church Members to leave the church. In response to the highly critical and spirited remark a member wrote this rebuttal:

Dear Editor:

I have been thinking about quitting the Mormon Church.

The Long Road To Subic Bay

I remember when traveling from Angeles City to Subic Bay was a nightmare. Between the two lane road filled with moon crater sized potholes, endless unfinished construction projects, detours, traffic accidents, and traffic; not to mention kids on bikes, livestock, dogs, cats, and an endless count of chickens on the road, the trip usually took at least 2 ½ to 3 hours!

Ready, Set, Angeles...

Mabuhay and Greetings from Angeles City, Philippines. I’m a retired American living close to Angeles City in the Philippine Islands.Decided to write a bit about our area and life on the largest of the Philippines 7,107 islands. Most of what I write here comes from others with far more information than I can provide from just my own personal experiences. Weather traveling the world in search of the perfect vacation spot, or like me, finding a warm place in the sun to enjoy my retirement years; The Philippines is a place of beauty and a relaxed lifestyle that would be hard to find anywhere else. Following is an article about our area of Angeles City. Things to do, how to get here and the like. As time goes by I will try to write a note or two from time to time with thoughts about life here as well as personal experiences. If you have never been to the Philippines before or even if you have lived here for years, remember this is a third world country with wonderful but very poor people. Use caution and good common sense when traveling in the country at all times. And remember the old saying, “if it sounds too good to be true—it usually is.

Down on The Farm

MANILA, Philippines – Forget any preconceptions you might have about The Farm, the health resort set amid San Benito’s lush forests in Batangas. It’s not what you think.

“We’ve heard it all,” says Mary-Anne Elgar, The Farm’s general manager for operations, shaking her head. “That it’s The Fat Farm, or The Veggie Farm, or The Enema Farm, or even The Expensive Farm.” For the record: “It’s a health farm.”
